Weapons
Weapons are the basic armaments wielded by non-magic using Beorc characters. They come in four types: sword, lance, axe, and bow, each of them coming with their own advantages and disadvantages based on their reach, speed, and power.
As characters grow, they will gain weapon ranks. For every 50 posts made after gaining access to a weapon, your character will gain one rank in that weapon, starting at (E). For example, a 0 post Mercenary, at rank (E), will only be able to rank (E) weapons, but a 50 post Mercenary, at rank (D), will be able to use rank (D) weapons. However, secondary weapons begin at rank (D), so a 200 post Hero, while being rank (B) in swords, would begin with a rank (D) in axes.
While all first tier classes have access to one weapon type, most advanced classes get access to at least one more, although some classes choose to specialize, and keep only one weapon. Specialized characters gain access to the (S) rank in their weapon, demonstrating their mastery over said weapon.
Weapons come in multiple tiers, each being of higher quality than the last. These are:
Bronze (E)
Bronze weapons are light, cheaply made, and easy to come by. They aren't going to be very effective against a knight in full armor, but they can still kill and are thus commonly used by peasants and new adventurers.
Iron (D)
Iron weapons are the standard across Tellius. While not the greatest weapons, iron weapons are heavy, reliable, and usually sharp enough to hack off a limb. Iron is the metal of choice for your basic soldier.
Steel (C)
Steel weapons, while roughly as heavy as iron weapons, have been tempered to be sharper and stronger. They do not break easy, and can bash through solid armor with enough effort. Most higher rank soldiers use these.
Silver (A)
Silver weapons are named as such for their brilliant, silvery sheen due to their excellent polish and craftsmanship. They are incredibly sharp, and noticeably lighter than iron and steel weapons. These weapons are expensive, and are thus reserved for the elite.
There also multiple weapon types along side the core tiers, which each have their own special effects. These are:
Slayer (C)
Slayer weapons are ancient weapons designed by the Beorc to be used against a specific type of Laguz, either Beast, Bird, or Dragon. Upon contact with Laguz flesh, these swords leave metal shavings behind which cause intense pain and befuddle the senses. However, because of this, the metal itself is weak, and only about as effective against an iron weapon against Beorc.
Long (C)
Long weapons, such as longswords, longspears, and poleaxes, are two-handed steel weapons designed to keep opponents away with their reach, which they do very effectively. They are, however, slower and unwieldy at close ranges, which makes them most suitable against mounted units.
Killer (B)
Killer weapons are serrated steel weapons that are designed to tear flesh and cause intense bleeding. They are the bane of unarmored opponents, and can even cause armored opponents great distress if given the right opening. However to achieve the serration, the steel needs to be specially reforged, leaving the weapon more brittle than normal steel and unsuitable for blocking or crushing.
Poison (B)
Poison weapons are made of a special, porous metal that can be soaked in a deadly poison that weakens enemies severely after only a few strikes. However, the metal, due to its porosity, is fragile and cannot be sharpened, thus making it ill-suited for direct combat.
Runic (S)
Runic weapons are silver weapons enchanted with a low magic that allows them to transfer small amounts of the opponents lifeforce with each taste of blood. Wielders of runic weapons therefore last far longer in battle than their opponents, and are incredibly dangerous in prolonged combat.
Players can carry one of each weapon they have proficiency in at a time. All weapons are obtained through RP, and can be sold and bought through RP as they please.
